Citroën unveiled its new campervan, the Citroën Holidays, at the 2025 Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show, taking place from 18th to 23rd February at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre (NEC). This debut offers a first look at the vehicle before its commercial release later in the year.
A New Contender in the Campervan Market
The Citroën Holidays is built on the updated SpaceTourer platform, in collaboration with Slovenian conversion specialist Bravia Mobil. Designed to accommodate up to four occupants, it features a pop-up roof, swivelling front seats, and a fully equipped kitchen.
The interior boasts a 10-inch HD touchscreen with 3D connected navigation and wireless smartphone integration, enhancing the travel experience.
Implications for Consumers
For consumers, the introduction of the Citroën Holidays expands the options in the compact campervan segment, providing a blend of comfort and modern amenities.
Its competitive pricing, starting at £56,590, positions it as a cost-effective alternative to models like the Volkswagen California and Ford Transit Custom Nugget, which have higher prices.
Opportunities for Manufacturers
The launch of the Citroën Holidays signifies a growing trend of major automotive manufacturers entering the campervan market, traditionally dominated by specialised converters.
This move could encourage other manufacturers to explore similar ventures, leading to increased competition and innovation within the industry.
Collaborations, such as Citroën's partnership with Bravia Mobil, highlight the benefits of combining automotive expertise with specialised conversion knowledge.
What's in It for Caravan and Motorhome Manufacturers?
For existing caravan and motorhome manufacturers, the entry of established car brands into the campervan sector presents both challenges and opportunities. The heightened competition may prompt a reevaluation of product offerings, focusing on innovation, quality, and value.
Additionally, partnerships between vehicle manufacturers and conversion specialists could become more prevalent, leading to diversified product lines and expanded market reach.
The 2025 Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show provided an excellent platform for industry professionals and consumers to assess the Citroën Holidays firsthand, offering insights into its potential impact on the market.
